For almost two weeks the project «stadtprojektionen» will be a guest at the Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen: Beni Bischof's film, which will be visible from the outside, is a preview of the third edition, which will take place from 18 to 21 April 2019 around St.Gallen's Lachen district. «stadtprojektionen» is curated by Anna Vetsch and Nina Keel and is intended to encourage people to perceive the city anew at night. Photographic and film works by regional, national and international artists will be projected onto walls in public space from dusk onwards.
Beni Bischof has had his studio in the Lachen district for a number of years. On his day-to-day way from the studio to the bus station or the train station, he has been collecting quite a number of things: parking tickets, Ritalin packaging, pizza boxes with half-eaten contents, Bushido graffiti, or the advertising messages of neighboring shops. For «stadtprojektionen» Bischof compressed his Lachen collection into a film: he zooms into photos in which doodles and comments appear, animates advertising slogans, or incorporates strolling fingers. The artist goes on a humorous and trashy romp through Lachen that already facilitates encounters with the district in the run-up to »stadtprojektionen».
Beni Bischof's film can be seen from 8 to 21 April 2019, daily as of 6 p.m., to the left of the entrance of the Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen.
