Despite the flood-like abundance of new books against which one can hardly defend oneself at times, it is sometimes worthwhile to pause, to free up time and to devote the necessary leisure to a special book. For once, we are not focusing on the paperback, the plastic cup of the book form, but on the art book with its individual appearance. Smaller publishers have taken on this genre of book to maintain it and present themselves with their editions in the Kunsthalle.
Vexer Verlag is an art book publisher based in St. Gallen and Berlin. The publishing house was founded in 1985 by Josef Felix Müller.
Seedorn is an art book publisher based in Zurich.
Gachnang-Springer is a publishing house founded in 1983 and based in Zurich.
Merve is a German publishing house with a programmatic focus on philosophy, art history and politics. The publishing house was founded in 1970 in West Berlin and has been based in Leipzig since 2017.
Barbara Wien Verlag in Berlin has been publishing independent artists' books and editions since 1988.
