Gregory und Cyril Chapuisat «Hyperespace»
The two Geneva-based artists Gregory (*1972) and Cyril Chapuisat (*1976) have been working together since 2003. Out of casual materials they produce walkable and even crawlable installations. Covering a surface of more than 200 m2, the artists will form a labyrinth that reaches the ceiling. As a visitor, one can move through the interior of the installation, yet the exterior does not open itself to the eye of the viewer.
Visitors are invited to explore the artistic labyrinth with playfulness. Gregory and Cyril Chapuisat work with such lively desire in a field of exploration recalling the romantic adventure stories. Similar to Jules Verne's A Journey to the Interior of the Earth, they are concerned with delving beneath the surface of things. In the Kunst Halle, one takes a trip to the inner windings of an architecture spreading over the whole exhibition space.
Loredana Sperini «Esiste Comunque»
Based on everyday intercourse and photography, Loredana Sperini roams a dimension producing both playful and inscrutable impressions, primarily due to her time consuming handcraft. These are black and white embroidered drawings of single persons or several people are reminiscent of illustrative design in lifestyle magazines, recalling a photographic design context.
Realistic depictions of humans are transformed through Loredana Sperinis's sewing needle, enhancing represented movements in a dreamy fashion. On the occasion of 20 Jahre / 20 Years, Loredana will produce a large-sized mural made of wax. Thereby, she carries on with the critical aesthetics of the embroidery, without loosing the character of her drawings.
Sperinis's art work is embedded in a contradictory context of art and handcraft, mixing image and ornament, connectinging traditional technique with the contemporary visual world.
