An artists’ collective working under the name of ‘Studio for Propositional Cinema’ has attracted much attention in recent years. Their artistic interventions are impressive for their conceptual sharpness and innovative exhibition formats. Studio for Propositional Cinema’s work takes up the tradition of concept art and directly concerns itself with the use of language as a means of creation, interpretation and communication. In the exhibition space this practice often manifests itself in the form of text installations, but also as performative moments. Studio for Propositional Cinema is working on an opera for Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen. Its libretto and narration will find various translations in the exhibition halls. Costumes, sound-works and other elements form a non-linear narrative in space and will challenge and fascinate the public.
